IN>TIME
(2008-2010)
Curated by Mark Jeffery and Sara Schnadt
Developed as a collaboration between the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and the Chicago Performance Network, IN>TIME is a Chicago performance series of new, emerging and established work by local, national, and international artists. IN>TIME features practitioners working with the medium of time and the body, crossing multiple intersections where the performing body meets text, object, sound, visual art, technology, and itself.
IN>TIME showcases outstanding performance work through an open call, an incubation program, and invitational projects. Its primary goal is to expose local performance artists to the best of concurrent national and international practices, stimulate and nurture new experimental local work, and provide a vehicle for local artists to find national exposure.

IN>TIME 2008
"The Department of Cultural Affairs and the Chicago Performance Network is excited to present IN>TIME 08, a new performance series curated by Mark Jeffery and Sara Schnadt. This year’s presentation on Saturday, March 8, 2008, from 6-8 pm, features
Ane Lan (Oslo, Norway), Katherine Behar (New York), Type A (New York), Jeremiah Barber (Chicago), and aimee brown (Chicago) and Amanda Gutierrez (Mexico City, Mexico).
For this event, Norwegian performance and video artist Ane Lan will bring his “Dream Chamber” to Chicago. Lan, who has recently shown work at the Venice Biennale, the Whitney Museum of Art, and the Istanbul Biennial, conceives his work as living portraits, short performances that transfer elements from theater and stage performance to a gallery setting. Incorporating the personal experiences of audience members, Lan examines the media and commercial attention that increasingly objectify us. Commissioned for IN>TIME 08, New York City artist Katherine Behar will present a new live performance and technology installation that imagines “Life inside Photoshop.” In a TRON-like fashion, three performers act as brushes, “drawing” and “erasing” parts of the beaux arts architecture of the Chicago Cultural Center. Also from New York City, Type A, the video-based performance duo of Adam Ames and Andrew Bordwin, will show a sampling of their work. Type A explores the ways in which men compete, challenge, and play. Documenting predetermined actions toward a series of goals, their works range from psychologically.
These performances and commissions will be joined by local artists Jeremiah Barber's untitled work and aimee brown and Amanda Gutierrez's 'The coming-out stage.' "
