IE (1995-1996)
"IE is the latest in a series of solo works by Jeffery that fuses live art, movement, film, photography and installation. IE focuses upon the body's personal history where the words FEAR and CONTROL present themselves as central themes to the work. These specific words are seen as ongoing examinations most notably towards the role of the mother (nurturing through absence and neglect) and in response our own role with regards to the act of carer and caring. These issues of personal, intimate experiences are used to question and discover wanted and unwanted identites, building upon the individuals own cracked foundation of place, desire, gender and sexuality. Are we victims or survivors of circumstance? Who is the guilty party?"
